Announces More Star Wars Movies!
Next time you visit Disneyland, there might be more than Mickey Mouse and Buzz Lightyear to greet you, you might also have the honor of seeing Darth Vader and Yoda to boot! Yesterday, October 30th it was announced that George Lucas was retiring and that he sold his franchise to Disney for a whopping 4 Billion dollar deal. Disney apparently wants to own the world: before this deal they owned such money makers as their own merchandise, Pixar, The Muppets and Marvel.
This deal also comes with a promise: we will be getting a new Star Wars movie in 2015. If that didn't blow your mind this next bit of news will: Disney plans on making a new Star Wars movie every 2-3 years, and this could last indefinitely until the Star Wars franchise is no longer profitable. That means we might have the possibility of at least a dozen new Star Wars movies in the next 24 years!
My only wish is that now that Disney will own the rights to Star Wars, perhaps the original 3 movies will be released in their pre-edited state. You know before George Lucas started editing his works and all this CGI stuff started happening. Is that too much to ask?
